Ladder Safety Information

Are the ladders sold on your website to standard?

As proud member of the Ladders Association and Pasma and supporters of the No Falls Foundation we pride ourselves on supplying ladders that have been tested and meet or exceed the standards. Standards change depending on the product type and more information can be found on our blog: Ladder Standards Cheat Sheet.

Do I need to be trained to use a ladder or tower?

There is no legal requirement for ladder training, however with that said it is best practice and an employers responsibility to ensure all users working at height are competent and have been adequately trained, one way to ensure this is accredited training provided by the Ladder Association. For towers it is very much the same, PASMA training is best practice for users working at height on mobile towers.

How often do I need to inspect my ladders?

Ladder inspections are recommended every 3, 6 and 12 months dependent on usage. During these time periods a full detailed inspection should take place and the inspection should be recorded, one way to do this is via the Ladder Log Inspection System. Alongside detailed inspections Pre-checks should be carried out before each individual use and the user should be confident carrying these out. More information on pre-checks can be found on our blog: How to inspect and maintain your ladders.

I don’t want a stabiliser bar on my ladder, do you sell them without?

In short no. If you are purchasing an extension or single section ladder, we only provide ladders certified to EN131 Professional or Non-Professional, and due to the requirements of this standard, any extension ladder over 3m will be fitted with a stabilier bar. If you locate any extension ladders elsewhere online without a stabiliser bar and reaching over 3m in height, they do not conform to the current standard and should be avoided.
