Warehouse Steps

(182 products)

We offer a range of warehouse and logistics access solutions that are suitable for construction, retail, commercial, office, warehouse, and even military applications. With warehouse steps from industry leaders Klime-ezee, Redhill, and Lyte Ladders, the user can safely reach heights up to 6 metres. This provides an easy and convenient way to access heights in a warehouse environment, allowing for efficient stock management while minimizing health and safety risks. For example, the Steptek Classic Warehouse Steps are fitted with swivel castors that retract when weight is applied to the steps, giving them firm contact with the floor, subsequently providing a safer use.

Warehouse steps often cause a little confusion when it comes to standards as they don't fall under the same specifications as other ladder types. For more information on standards you can find our EN131-7 information guide on our blog, you can also easily customise your warehouse steps, from colour to exit styles, more information can be found here.

WHAT ARE WAREHOUSE STEPS?

Warehouse steps are designed specifically for industrial warehouses and storerooms to allow users to reach shelving units. They differ from a ladder as they have wide steps instead of treads allowing you to safety climb to the platform, which can be much safer when loading and unloading stock. Warehouse steps are intended to remain in the aisles of your warehouse and as they are on wheels they can be easily manoeuvred up and down to different locations.

ARE WAREHOUSE STEPS CONSIDERED SAFE?

Yes, warehouse steps are very safe for everyday use and depending on the job in hand they can provide much more stability than ladders. When picking your warehouse step ensure there is a braking system in place and a guardrail around the top for added protection.

WHAT HEIGHT CAN A WAREHOUSE STEP REACH?

Warehouse steps have a variety of sizes, starting at around 0.5m and reaching up to more than 4m, warehouse steps are perfect when trying to reach heights below 6m. When choosing the height of your warehouse step calculate the height you need to reach, the working height is calculated by adding roughly 1.5m (an average height of 5ft) to the platform height, obviously, a taller person would be able to reach higher than this when stood on the platform.

As they are typically non-folding, you should also consider doorway heights and suspended lighting fixtures when choosing the height of your warehouse step, to ensure you aren’t causing any obstructions.

WHAT SAFETY PRINCIPLES SHOULD I FOLLOW WHILE USING A WAREHOUSE STEP?

Always keep in mind that your employees' safety comes first. As a result, you must ensure that they are equipped with the necessary safety equipment to avoid injuries and fatalities. Goggles, hard hats, and work gloves are just a few of the items you'll need in copious quantities in your warehouse. Only workers who have been trained should be completing tasks in the warehouse.

We also recommend a competent person inspects your warehouse steps on a regular basis, and a record of those inspections should be kept. You also need to consider the application of the warehouse step, if employees are using a step to load heavy objects, platform width is critical. You can specify the tread width when ordering steel mobile safety steps, which can range from 500mm to 2000mm. Different tread types are used on mobile safety steps. The three main tread types are anti-slip tread, ribbed rubber, and expanded metal. All three tread types are water, oil, and chemical resistant, making them suitable for use in the food and beverage industries.
