Henry Todd the Veteran Mountaineer and Himalayan Expedition Leader came to Ladderstore when he needed to source 100 extra strong ladders to ship out to Nepal.
The lightweight, class 1 aluminium single section ladders are used by Henry mountain climbers to cross crevasses to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Climbers set the ladders up in the treacherous part of the climb called the Khumbu Icefall. The glacier is the final party of the trail to and from Everest Base Camp and it is one of the key routes for climbing the South Col route that takes you to the summit of Mount Everest.
The Khumbu Icefall is where the glacier starts to melt and the entire glacier is unstable so tough and robust ladders like the Single Section Ladders are a must. So, Henry Todd picked up the phone and asked our resident ladder expert Jacky for her advice as to which were the lightest but heavy duty ladders that could be used for the task. A 100 of the ladders were shipped to Manchester Airport to be flown out to Nepal for immediate use.
A few weeks ago Henry dropped in to say thank you and brought with him some images of the ladders in use on Mount Everest. He was so pleased with the quality of the ladders that he will be placing another order before the end of the year.
