Is Ladder Training a Legal Requirement?
In short no. However, referring to the Working at Height Regulations of 2005 anybody that is involved with planning, organising and carrying out the work must be competent to do the task in hand. This means the person carrying out these tasks must have relevant experience or training to identify any risks that may be involved. So there is no legal requirement for official ladder training, but many employers now use formal training as an indication of competence for their staff.
Trafford Housing Trust - (Training Review)
We Recently provided Trafford Housing Trust with Ladder Inspection and Ladder Users Training. We were happy to learn that all delegates took many key points away from their training and they all felt more confident and competent when using ladders.
The main reasons for delegates feeling more confident where they “learnt how to set up different types of ladders on uneven surfaces and in different conditions” and they all now know “how to identify damaged ladders”, which allows them to identify any potential risks before use.
On the whole the ladder training was “fantastic, the trainer was full of knowledge and had years of ladder experience”.
