Recently one of our Working At Height Specialists, Erin, has undertaken the PASMA Tower for users training course, which aims to give delegates the information and skills needed to confidently erect, inspect, and dismantle alloy scaffold towers among many other . Throughout this interview-style blog, Erin will talk us through her experience, why she thought it was important, and how this training has helped her in her role at Ladderstore.
Why did you feel it was important to undertake the PASMA Tower For Users Training Course?
“I wanted to gain more knowledge about towers so that I can help customers who have queries about them. It’s important because I want to be able to fully understand the products that I am selling to customers so I can help them to the best of my ability. It also adds qualifications to my current job role alongside other qualifications like the Ladder Association User and Inspector Course that I completed earlier in the year.”
What tasks did you have to do and what did you learn from them?
“I learned how to erect towers correctly and safely, including the dangers of not properly installing the guardrails as well learning about the rules and regulations regarding towers. I took a theory exam before doing a practical element which included erecting a Boss Evolution Ladderspan tower, climbing it, and dismantling it. I also learned the correct PPE to wear during these tasks and how to use them to ensure optimal safety.”
How does completing this course help you in your role at Ladderstore?
“I am now able to properly describe the course and details of it from my personal experience, so that I can thoroughly inform customers on the topics I mentioned prior. I can also better identify FAQs regarding towers and can answer them to the fullest extent.”
Were you satisfied with the outcome of the training course, and did it meet your expectations from when you signed up?
“I didn’t really know what to expect going into it as I’ve never done anything similar before which meant I learned a lot of new information. The trainer was especially helpful as he was very knowledgeable and was always willing to assist me and the others on the course. I passed the exams and gained my qualification certificate so it went well overall.”
Who would you recommend this training course for?
“I would recommend this training course to anyone who is thinking about purchasing and/or using scaffold towers to ensure they are knowledgeable and competent in using the equipment. I would say that the training would be especially useful for site managers as they can use the knowledge they gain to assist and advise others in their team. The further scaffold safety inspection course would also be useful for site managers or anyone who has the responsibility of inspecting equipment.”
