All our rolling ladders are made to order and made specifically for you. They come in a range of finishes, materials and styles. Our rolling ladders aren’t just for use in libraries or on a bookshelf, they have been used in bars, restaurants, theatres, kitchens, showrooms and even on the television from time to time.
If you’ve decided a rolling ladder is a perfect solution for you that’s great news.
Let’s get started!
Aluminium or Stainless Steel Track
The first step of choosing your rolling ladder is to decide your track type. We have two options available, aluminium and stainless steel.
If you are looking for a rolling ladder to go over bookcases or spaces that are out of sight the aluminium option would suit you best. There is no issue with using the aluminium track for all applications, but the feedback we’ve had is that the stainless steel track looks much cleaner when it is visible.
The aluminium track works as a metal strip running along the surface of the structure where the ladder sits. The stainless steel track uses stainless steel tube and comes away from the wall. The two options can be seen below. The aluminium on the left and the stainless steel on the right.
Removable or Captive?
The rolling ladders have two options, captive or removable. These options are slightly different for the aluminium and stainless steel tracks.
Aluminium track - The options for an aluminium track is either a standard chassis, where the ladder will be fixed to the track. The removable chassis will allow you to take the ladder off the track to store the ladder elsewhere if you wish.
Stainless Steel track - The stainless steel track style allows this ladder type to be provided as a hook on style which can be removed or captive rolling style which keeps the ladder on the track and smoothly moves down the track.
Regardless if you select the aluminium or timber track style the ladder quality is not compromised, both styles are manufactured using high quality and sustainable selected timbers. Below you will find a list of our wood options, we have also listed these in price order, to help if you are working on a budget.
Redwood - Our most cost effective option offering the most lightweight ladder
Poplar - Also known as tulipwood this timber is perfect for painting or staining as the low sap content ensures the most even and effective finish.
Ash - Our strongest timber ladder with a distinctive grain
Oak - A classic timber which will suit most decors, perfect with an oiled finish
Walnut - A beautiful dark finish perfect to take a clear lacquered finish.
We recommend all of our rolling ladders to have a finish, this helps protect the wood and stops marking when the ladder is in use. We can finish the ladder for you by either lacquering, staining or painting it for you, alternatively you can do this yourself when the ladder gets delivered.
We also offer a tread insert option to give your rolling ladder not only an improved look but an improved grip when the ladder is in use. The images below will show you the options we have available.
