What is a shelf ladder used for?

Aluminium and wooden shelf ladders are typically seen in libraries, warehouses, sleeping lofts, and other small spaces where access is required. Shelf ladders can simply hook on to a rail and can be designed to store vertically when not in use. A hook-on ladder can be moved along the rail by picking up the ladder and repositioning it. Rolling ladders are a more aesthetically pleasing alternative that can be simply rolled into position.
