Stair Ladders

Working on stairwells is sometimes necessary for both general decorating and maintenance tasks and it's sometimes difficult to access these areas safely. Using ladders on stairs can be a daunting task but with the right stair ladder, working on stairs isn't only safer but allows you to reach ceilings and stairwells with minimal ease. Each of our stair ladders in this range can easily be transformed from a step and extension ladder and can be used in a safe way on stairs.

Browse our range of both folded combination ladders which make them ideal for simple storage solutions as well as larger extendable ladders which allow those customers to work at a higher height. For more information about how to choose the most suitable ladder, read our guide to buying the right ladder.

Can you use combination ladders on stairs?

Combination ladders when being used on stairs are only suitable on specific ranges. If you intend on using your combination ladder on a staircase or to paint a stairwell, be sure to check if the model you buy is suitable for this use. Most combination ladders have some in the range that work on stairs however you’ll find perhaps some of the larger models do not.

How do I use a combination ladder on stairs?

When using a combination ladder on stairs it will depend on which ladder you’ve purchased in regards to how it works and how you should use it on stairs. Typically, when a combination ladder is in stairway mode it will be in an A frame shape. Firstly position your combination ladder as a step ladder with one section on the stair and one at the bottom of the staircase. With the section set on the stairs you can extend this section further into the A frame position. This should then be safe to climb, however ensure the ladder is not extended past the stabiliser bar on the ground. As always check the instructions in the user manual.
