What are modular homes and why are they gaining popularity?
Modular homes, also known as prefabricated homes, have been gaining popularity in the United Kingdom in recent years. They offer a cost-effective, efficient and sustainable solution for housing, particularly in urban areas. As we’ve seen modular homes on the rise, we’ve also been speaking to several customers with similar access issues.
The Problem
We were first contacted by a local construction company in August of last year who were working on a modular hotel in Liverpool. They were struggling with accessing the roof on their modular building due to the limited space they had available to work with. After discussing these issues, we were then able to start looking at a bespoke solution that would be safe for access and fit into the space required.
The Product
After getting the specification from our customer, we used our expertise and close relationships with our engineers to draw, design and manufacture a bespoke solution with suitable dimensions for the task in hand. The product designed was a cantilever platform with a 4m platform height.
The Solution & Results
The cantilever system allowed the construction company to safely access their working area due to the enclosed platform and small footprint. We are particularly proud of this creation for modular homes as we also received another order shortly afterwards after a contractor saw our product in operation on site and ordered more units with slight dimension changes to suit their applications.
We were told that the product met their expectations and is still in use. They were happy with our recommendations and found it helpful they could speak between ourselves and our manufacturers to ensure the solution was perfect for their needs.
