The British Antarctic Survey have recently purchased several Ladder Log Business Packs from us to ensure that their ladders are properly maintained and logged in the the cold environment and rocky terrain of Antarctica.
At the Rothera research station on Adelaide Island located 1860km south of the Falkland Islands, fibre glass step ladders and 3 section extension ladder are used year in, year out by technicians to gain access to works at high levels. The Ladder Log Inspection System will be used to ensure these ladders are kept in perfect working order in the harsh conditions.
Rothera is the principal British Antarctic Survey logistics centre for support of Antarctic field science. There is a 900m long crushed rock runway allowing an air link with South America and the Falkland Islands, the Biscoe Wharf provides safe mooring for ships.
Field science programmes currently being supported from the station include glacial retreat, ice coring for the study of atmospheric chemistry and climate as well as the collection of geological data to support computer modelling of the historic movement of ice sheets.
We look forward to receiving further orders from the British Antarctic Survey as and when they require replacement ladders and additional Ladder Log packs.
