Here at Ladderstore, we like to support charities where we can and the Red Box Project is no exception to this! Continue reading to find out exactly what the Red Box Project is, how you can help and why this is an incredibly important charity to get involved with.
What is the Red Box Project
‘The Red Box Project was founded in March 2017 by three friends who wanted to give young people in their local area access to sanitary products. After reading about ‘Period Poverty‘ in the news, they were angered at the idea that young women were missing out on their education because they couldn’t afford the products needed during their period.’ Extract taken from http://redboxproject.org/about/
How you can help
The idea of the Red Box Project is to set up collection points, (red boxes) that can be filled with the essentials required for young people on their periods, that they otherwise couldn’t afford. These essential items include;
-
Pads
-
Knickers
-
Tights
-
Tampons
A full list of items that can be placed into the red box can be found here:
Once the collection boxes are filled, these boxes are then distributed across the UK to thousands of schools. There is a large list of schools getting involved. Your donations could even go to a school that you attended yourself! See which schools are involved here: http://redboxproject.org/locations/
If you would like to donate to this great cause, then you can bring your sealed products to our office located within 116-118 Bradshaw Brow Bolton BL2 3DD. You can open our double doors and leave items in our reception, or give us a buzz and pop inside for a brew. Alternatively, you can find other collection points on the Red Box Website.
Recent News
