The Universal Mobile-to-Static Podium Step Safety Baseplates stop a podium step from being moved when a person is on board, something that Safety Officers notice is happening more and more. This universal solution is easily fitted and ensures that the steps can still be moved, but not when in use.

Podium steps are the safer alternative to step ladders and ladders for low level working. However, this safety is dependent on operators complying with the manufacturers operating instructions. This isn't always the case. The wheel castors are supposed to be locked before use on most podium steps. If the operator forgets, or even worse moves the podium around while someone is on board, then this becomes a significant safety risk.

There have allready been a number of incidents reported in relation to the incorrect use of podium steps and we expect this number to rise.

The podium baseplate kit consists of two safety baseplates that replace the podiums existing front castors. Once fitted the podium can still be moved around on the rear castors to move it into place but crucially once an operative is onboard the podium cannot then be moved.

The safety baseplates will work on all podiums providing the tube is the standard 2" diameter providing that the internal bore is at least 47mm.
