Purchased the Eco S Line to gain access to loft in our 1930s semi detached house. Existing loft hatch too small therefore loft hatch was altered and loft ladder fitted by Mark at More Than Loft Ladders. The Eco is a brilliant loft ladder. Solid construction, doesn't take up too much space when lowered and doesn't simply drop out of the loft onto you as it has a sprung opening system. Very impressed. Great for everyday use.

Very pleased with the product - not the cheapest, but sturdy, easy to use once installed*, and very good value, especially when compared with a lot of the lighter, flimsier loft ladders we looked at before deciding on this one. Installation is not something I would have attempted myself - even our carpenter seemed to be doing a bit of muttering about the instructions (most specifically re uncertainty over the amount of clearance the ladder would need when being extended), but managed to get it installed quickly enough. * my wife and teenage children happily use this ladder to access the loft - something I would not have been happy about them doing with a cheaper aluminium product. Well it fits, which if you are thinking about buying this product you already know is a challenge. The ladder itself is simple enough to fit, a couple of words of warning though - I now know the extension should go in the middle of the ladder not at the bottom, a mistake that you will regret if you get it wrong. As with any ladder of this design it is crucial to get the measurements right when you adjust the length, you don't want it too long or too short and certainly don't assume that your landing floor is flat if you have a victorian house (in fact I have yet to find anything that is either square or flat in our whole house). Overall though it is a good ladder, just needs care when it is being set up. (Posted on 30/07/2010)
