Deluxe Hi-Performance Aluminium Loft Ladder
One of the best sliding aluminium loft ladders available, ideal for daily domestic and commercial use. They are suited for domestic use where a very safe and sturdy ladder is required and are widely used in many commercial installations. The spring counterbalanced action on nylon slides makes for smooth, silent and effortless operation. The two section ladder raises and lowers with the trapdoor. Comfortable, extra wide 77mm deep flat, non-slip, angled treads allow for easy and safe climbing and two large safety handrails are fitted along the full length of the ladders.
Installation is pretty much straightforward. Pivot arms and heavy duty springs are attached to the loft floor, the ladder also attaches to the hatch edge and upper face of the hatch door. All the fittings required for installation are delivered with the ladders as is an operating pole for convenient and safe ladder lowering.
Straightforward installation with all the required fixings, trapdoor conversion kit and fully illustrated instructions delivered to your door with your ladders. Kite-marked to 'BS EN14975 : 'Heavy Use with a max safe load of 150kg'. Very easy to use with almost effortless operation, robust and safe with double handrails and comfortably wide treads.

Firm, solid, stout, excellent to use. Women feel very safe using them. Users feel safe when carry a load (eg: a box) . . . a good selling point. The second handrail we used as a horizontal safety rail in the loft, along-the-side the open hatchway (parallel with the ladder). So to allow for this optional redeployment, at least 2 more holes need to be provided in the handrails so they can be secured to nearby loft roofing timbers/struts etc. The bolt on the side is bad, easily leads to pinched/trapped fingers, not a nice item. Installed one before so no technical problems. Pre-made the access opening a little larger this time, the open hatch/void was the main human-safety danger when working above and having to move round to get in a good position to align/screw etc. The hatch hinges are awful, and tacky. The hatch latch is much too complicated to measure/drill/fit/align; there must be a easier latch mechanism, one that can accommodate vertical/up-down mis-measurement.
Replace the fiddly bolt on the side & go back to the simple, reliable, fault-free 'toggle' latch; we have another decades-old identical ladder and it is nearly as good as new . . . just tarnished. (Posted on 11/05/2011)

After installation, the ladder fouled a roof beam and this meant moving the latch a few inches ( drilled two extra holes ) so that the bottom set of treads missed the beam when pushed up - easily rectified. The ladders were very good, as described, and have a very smooth action. People have commented have sturdy they feel when climbed. Only complaint. the quality of the fitting supplied to hook down the ladder did not match the quality of the rest ( looked like a black pipe bracket ) I sourced a stainless steel pull ring instead.
