In an emergency this permanently installed fire escape ladder changes from a slim, drainpipe-like shape into a safe and sturdy means of escape. By leaning out of the window and pulling a lock-pin the ladder folds out and transforms into a solid fire escape ladder. This escape ladder is easy to climb and is suitable for children and the elderly. With its unique locking pin system it is also secure and unusable by people on the ground.

The Modum ladder is the safest fire escape ladder in our range and offers superb quality and performance. The ladder is certified to BS EN 131-2:1993 as well as GS marked. It is also endorsed by a number of European insurers.
The Modum ladder is suitable for two and three storey buildings. (Longer ladders can be provided on request). Each escape window can have its own release station with a lock-pin, which allows the section of ladder below the window to be opened. In case of a three storey building the person at the top floor can release the entire ladder while the person at the first floor can release just the section below him. The sections can be opened in any sequence. Every release station is locked with a security lock-pin, which is pulled in an emergency. The pins are out of reach of unauthorised people on the ground and are shaped specifically to avoid tampering.
The ladder is supplied with one release station at the top as standard and a second release station is an option available for 3 story buildings. This enables anyone on either floor to release the ladders ready for use. The ladder now comes with an improved Tamper Proof pin. The design of this pin virtually eliminates unauthorised access from the ground.
The ladders are manufactured in anodized aluminium to endure all weather conditions and come with a 5 year warranty.
Installation and Ordering
The Modum ladder comes in two sizes to fit either a standard 2 story house or a 3 story house. You simply order according to the size of your house and we do the rest. We will contact you to get your exact measurements so that we can tailor the ladder to your exact requirements, then we will send it to you for DIY install.
When ordering you have a couple of decisions to make. You can order the ladders in an anodised aluminium or white colour. You also need to decide, if ordering a 3 story ladder, if you want an additional release station for a 1st floor window. Finally, you must decide how to install the ladder. The ladder is designed for DIY self install and comes with comprehensive instructions and an installation DVD. Your Modum ladder will arrive with all the screws, washers and wall plugs that will be necessary to fit the ladder. We'll even send you the two masonry drill bits that you'll need to create the correct size holes in your wall. The pack contains everything you will need. Your ladder will arrive in modules, which will have been chosen to fit your needs. We also include metal spacers to fill any gaps between the ladder and the wall in case the surface of your wall should be slightly uneven.

- The wall has to be fairly smooth and straight to be suitable for the Modum ladder.
- The wall can be brick or cement and Modum ladders have even been fitted to steel, industrial glass, platic and wooden walls.
- The exit window has to be of the type that slides vertically or hinges from the top, or that opens away from the proposed ladder position - this can be that opens in to the room or outwards away from the ladder site.
