Drop Down Loft Access Hatch with Extra Insulation

The Drop Down Loft Access Door with Extra Insulation provides an unobtrusive and cost effective alternative to traditional loft space access, and complies with the insulation requirements of the Part L Building Regulation.

The door has a central spring-loaded catch and a clever hinge assembly enabling it to be easily opened or alternatively totally removed for unobstructed access into the roof space. The catch ensures the draught seal is fully compressed enabling a tight seal between the door and frame preventing the problem of moist air entering the roof space and causing damage to the roof structure and items in the loft space. The door is insulated with 60mm PU insulation slab to achieve a U-value of below 0.35W/m²k.

The door and frame have been designed with the aesthetic appearance of the modern home in mind and finished with a lightly textured surface that can be easily cleaned with a solvent free damp cloth. Alternatively, the GL250 can be painted to match interior decor.

Quality of product

First loft hatch I have fitted so cannot compare to other products. On the whole, a good product which I would recommend. Some small improvements could be made to greatly increase insulation and airtightness properties. Surface finish is good but not the easiest to clean so take care when installing. Take your time preparing the opening or the fit and operation will be compromised. (Posted on 25/02/2012)

The frame is made of very thin plastic which means it can pull out of square making fitting a little difficult. (Posted on 25/02/2012)

- Does this hatch door come with all fittings & pole to open/close hatch? Your product description does not appear to state this.
- The drop down hatch comes with all the fittings but does not come with a pole. You get the key for the catch which you would need to add to a pole on receipt.
